Array Poem for 4^{th} grade

by Sandy Dimiterchik

Welcome to an array,

rows and columns set in a certain way.

It helps me to multiply and divide.

I find area by multiplying how long and wide.

Array Poem for 4^{th} grade

by Sandy Dimiterchik

Welcome to an array,

rows and columns set in a certain way.

It helps me to multiply and divide.

I find area by multiplying how long and wide.

Counting Poem for Kindergarten and 1st grade

by Sandy Dimiterchik

How I love to count numbers,

1 to 10, things like cucumbers,

11 to 19, 10 plus something left over,

20 to 99, many tens and ones I discover.

100 gives me 10 tens and

on the place value chart

a new column I put 1 in.

Subtraction and Addition Poem for 1^{st} grade

by Sandy Dimiterchik

Subtrahend is not your friend,

it takes away while addend gives,

unless you want something smaller,

then subtracting from minuend

is what you will prefer.

Decomposing numbers poem for 2^{nd} grade

by Sandy Dimiterchik

I want to decompose numbers today,

to break them up in a different way.

There are many ways I can split them up,

but adding to ten is the best way to match up.

Estimation poem for 3^{rd} grade

by Sandy Dimiterchik

For now, estimation is my best guess,

rounding numbers will be learned next.

I try to approximate the length

by using the right units of measurement.

Fractions Poem for 4^{th} grade

by Sandy Dimiterchik

Learning fractions is so much fun,

especially when they are less than 1.

I use the number line to show how big they are,

and from each other how far.
